Voting Starts Soon!

Early voting begins in a few short weeks, and we'll start seeing signs sprout like fall flowers in the right of ways and yards. Mine are in and ready to go, just shoot me an email at deanna4hopemills@gmail.com and I will get one to you.

And, even though this is a non-partisan race, I have been asked, both outright and subtly, what my party affiliation is. I am an un-affiliated moderate. I lean conservative on fiscal policies, but lean liberal on social programs. They aren't mutually exclusive. Frankly, I'd rather see my tax money help support my neighbor than to give corporations even more breaks than they already get. I support programs that help kids thrive, local and start up businesses, community growth, and of course, conserving the environment we live in. My work and passion is in sustainability and environmental preservation. My degrees are in environmental management and science so it's a blend of legal compliance, environmental justice, and long term conservation. I am thrilled to have a job that is actually in my field, and which lets me play in the mud and rain puddles.

I will bring that moderate stance to the town leadership, carefully weighing and researching every issue brought before the board, and voting for what I feel will be of the most benefit to the majority of the people in Hope Mills. Even if I am not a great fan of it myself. I know that my personal opinion is just that, an opinion. I will vote on the facts and the long term benefits or risks of each issue. And I will quote the wonderful Kirk deViere in this, "hold me accountable", please. But I do ask, even if you are completely against me, or anyone else, on an issue, let's discuss it with civility and respect for each other. We'll get more done that way.
